CNN contributor Ana Navarro, a former political strategist, ripped Democrats Tuesday for taking Hispanic voters “for granted” since the 2020 election.

“I think Democrats should have been reading into it for the last two years and not, you know, two months before this election. And they’re going to have, and I think, you know, I remember when Republicans lost in 2012, there was a postmortem, an autopsy report, and I think Democrats should do absolutely the same thing, particularly focused on minority vote and it’s, you know, it’s about misinformation, it’s about not accurately and not vigorously responding to the charge that they’re communists and socialists and just letting it go, it’s about taking people for granted or people feeling they’re taken for granted,” Navarro said. Republican gains with Hispanics included Republican Rep. Mayra Flores of Texas winning a June special election in a congressional district former Democratic Rep. Filemon Vela of Texas won by 13% in 2020. Trump won 32% of the Hispanic vote in 2020, but 40% of Hispanic voters and 21% of black voters said they’d back a Republican in a Suffolk/USA Today poll.

“It’s about pitting – the Democrats aren’t doing this but it’s happening. Pitting blacks and browns against each other. We’ve seen it bubble up in the L.A. County leaked tapes, that is happening, all of those things need to be addressed,” Navarro continued referencing the use of racial slurs by members of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors that came to light in October. “No one wants to be taken for granted. Nobody wants to be put as part of a homogeneous blob. Nobody wants to be told they have to think one way because of the color of their skin, or their ethnicity or their race or their gender or sexuality, people need, want to be individual voters.”

Navarro, who has been critical of former President Donald Trump and his supporters, earlier ripped Democrats in Florida for nominating former Democratic Rep. Charlie Crist, saying that it would make Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis look like a “conqueror.”

The Democratic National Committee did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.
