Chinese President Xi Jinping was caught on camera Tuesday criticizing Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau after Trudeau allegedly leaked details of a private meeting to the press.

Video shared on social media shows Xi pulling Trudeau aside and telling him it was “not appropriate” for Trudeau to share details of their private conversation to the press, according to a translator.

“Everything we discuss has been leaked to the paper, that’s not appropriate,” Xi reportedly said. “And that’s not the way the conversation was conducted.”

“In Canada, we believe in a free and open and frank dialogue. We will continue to look to work constructively together, but there will be things we will disagree on.”

“Let’s create the conditions first,” Xi reportedly responded before walking away.

Trudeau then walked off, seemingly uncomfortable after having been scolded by a fellow world leader.

The exchange came just one day after it was leaked to the press that Trudeau raised “serious concerns” about China’s “interference activities,” according to The Guardian.
