A gas-powered leaf blower interrupted economic adviser for President Joe Biden, Heather Boushey, during an interview Monday, moments after she discussed the need for clean energy.

Boushey joined CNBC’s “Squawk Box” and spoke with host Joe Kernen about the need for clean energy, arguing it is economically, environmentally and politically wise.

“We need to make sure that we are focused on this transition to clean energy for the sake of the environment, but also to make sure that we have that energy independence. And so the president’s focus on you know, again, semiconductors, clean energy, on making and building things here in America, those are the kinds of investments we need to continue to make to support the economy nationwide,” Boushey said, adding that “These are supply side investments that are going to make our economy more productive, more resilient, more competitive internationally, over time.”

A leaf blower stole the show as the interview continued, drowning out Boushey as it worked on the White House lawn behind her. (RELATED: American Scientists Just Made A Huge Energy Breakthrough: REPORT)

“So you usually have a leaf blower, gasoline-powered leaf blower, so that I can’t hear what’s going on. What’s that — what is — what’s happening now that you’re piping in there?” Kernen said.

“It is a leaf blower behind me, yes,” Boushey responded.

“I think that must be an electric one,” another host chimed in from off-camera as Boushey and Kernen laughed.

Kernen then wondered whether they knew Boushey was on television.
