Lisa Guerrero, perhaps best known for her work on Inside Edition, revealed in her memoir she suffered a miscarriage on-air during her early days as a sports reporter.

Guerrero made waves in 2003 when she became the sideline reporter for Monday Night Football, which had an audience of 40 million people each week, according to People Magazine.

“I wanted to be the Barbara Walters of sports,” Guerrero told People. “I was doing these big sit down interviews with tough, tough athletes who weren’t very open with the media — Barry Bonds, Shaquille O’Neal, Alex Rodriguez — and they were opening up to me.”

But Guerrero alleges she faced a wealth of misogyny from several athletes as well as her executive producer, Freddie Gaudelli. She was let go after one season, but revealed for the first time that she actually had suffered a miscarriage live on-air in the middle of a game, according to the report.

“People who knew what was going on with Freddie and who read how I was being treated in the media already looked at me with such pity,” Guerrero said. “I was a shell of myself. And I felt such shame and embarrassment that the last thing I was going to say is, ‘Oh, and by the way, I just had a miscarriage.’ Most of my best friends will learn about it by reading the book.”

Guerrero reportedly said she was somewhere between eight to twelve weeks along.

“The miscarriage wasn’t because of Freddie, and it wasn’t because of one radio talk show host or one bad column. It was a culmination of the entire season of negativity and cruelty. It was really cruel.”

Guerrero recounted the traumatic event in her upcoming book “Warrior.”

Guerrero said that during the first half of one game she felt a sharp pain in her abdomen. (RELATED: WWE Superstar Carmella Reveals She Had A Miscarriage)

“I pushed through and did my reports. When I felt a dampness between my legs, I thought, ‘Oh, I got my period.’ And then I remembered I was pregnant. I was having a miscarriage! I could feel blood leaking.”

Guerrero said she told her assistant she was going to the restroom but he informed her she was about to be live.

“I delivered my live report. I was dizzy and nauseated but reminded myself to stand up straight,” she recounted. “The pain was excruciating…I finished, I raced off to interview a coach. Then I headed to the bathroom. As I sat on the toilet, I couldn’t believe the blood pouring out of me. It had soaked through my pants.”
