The fact that Jeff Bezos hired Allen & Company tells you that a sale of the Commanders might actually happen.

With the possibility of the Washington Commanders franchise being sold out of the hands of current owner Dan Snyder, Amazon kingpin Jeff Bezos has hired an investment firm to assist him on a possible purchase, according to a Feb. 23 report from Bezos’ own The Washington Post and also confirmed by ESPN.

The company that Bezos hired is Allen & Company, a boutique investment firm, which is also the same company that helped organize the sales of both the Denver Broncos in 2022 and Carolina Panthers in 2018.

As of now, Bezos has yet to submit a bid to buy the Commanders franchise because of the process still being in the early stages, but ESPN’s source emphasized that the move to hire the firm signals serious interest from Bezos. Also, other people involved with the situation also expect Bezos to eventually get involved.

Having a net worth of $119 billion, which has him as the third-richest person in the world (according to Forbes), Bezos has the power to outbid any of the competing groups — which is possibly three in total, including Josh Harris, who already owns the Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Devils, and he’s also a limited partner of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

I have mixed feelings about Jeff Bezos, but I would absolutely love it if he saved this franchise from Dan Snyder. (RELATED: Aaron Rodgers Stayed In A Literal Hobbit Hole For His So-Called ‘Darkness Retreat’)

Do it, Jeff.
