NBC’s “Today” show host Hoda Kotb has been off-air for several days because of a “family health matter,” her co-hosts told the audience Wednesday morning.
Kotb, 58, has been absent from her usual post for more than a week, last appearing on Feb. 17.
Co-host Craig Melvin told the audience Wednesday that Kotb’s absence was due to a “family health matter” and that Kotb was “ok,” but he did not elaborate further. Co-host Savannah Guthrie was also absent on Wednesday after she tested positive for COVID-19 the previous day.
Both @SavannahGuthrie and @HodaKotb are off today, with Savannah recovering from a positive COVID-19 diagnosis. As for Hoda, she is okay and handling a family health matter. We’re sending our love to them both and can’t wait to see them in the studio soon 🧡 pic.twitter.com/EcfVV1zsac

Loyal viewers have taken notice of her absence, with several commenting on Instagram that the show isn’t the same without her, while others asked for an explanation.
“Ok. Seriously … what is going on with you? I know you have a right to privacy, but your truest fans have noticed your absence and these posts … worried about you,” one commenter wrote.
