Director and executive producer of hit cowboy drama “Yellowstone,” Stephen Kay, and various stars opened up about their feelings on the second half of season five during Deadline’s Contender Television panel, Sunday.

Kay told the audience at the event that he hopes that he and the entire “Yellowstone” production team are able to tie up the plethora of loose ends in the season soon enough, Deadline reported. Filming on the drama was halted earlier in 2023 amid rumors that the show’s leading man, Kevin Costner, is making huge demands over his schedule. Costner’s alleged behavior has already seen the second half of season five be pushed back until possibly 2024.

“[‘Yellowstone’ creator] Taylor [Sheridan] is in Texas spinning hay into gold and we’re hoping we’re hoping we’ll do it soon. Everybody’s excited,” Kay told the audience. He was joined by stars Wes Bentley (Jamie Dutton), Piper Perabo (Summer) and Gil Birmingham (Thomas Rainwater).

“What’s been great about Taylor’s writing is he literally surprises me every time I pick up a script… but it’s usually tough. So whatever it’s going to be it’s going to be hard to do,” Bentley commented on the future of the series. Perabo apparently seconded Bentley’s sentiment.

“I can’t imagine what’s gonna happen to Summer next. That’s what sort of terrifying,” she told the audience. (RELATED: Keanu Reeves Says He Is Open To ‘Yellowstone’ Role)

In the meantime, Sheridan has a slew of other series hitting our screens in the coming year. He’s also working on either a “Yellowstone” spin-off or expanding the series to bring in superstar Matthew McConaughey, so watch this space for more updates!
