I don’t understand any of this.
The New York Yankees‘ early-season struggles continue, as they lost 3-2 Monday night to the Cleveland Guardians to drop them to 15-15 on the season. And when the Yankees woke up the next morning, they found themselves in sole possession of last place in the AL East division.
Yes, you read that correctly. A team with a payroll of $279,647,478, the second-highest in the MLB, is in last place and on the verge of a losing record if they drop their Tuesday night contest against Cleveland.
Here are the current standings in the AL East:
- Tampa Bay Rays (23-6)
- Baltimore Orioles (19-9) (3.5 GB)
- Toronto Blue Jays (18-11) (5.0 GB)
- Boston Red Sox (16-14) (7.5 GB)
- New York Yankees (15-15) (8.5 GB)
Just insane.

I just don’t understand how the New York Yankees out of all teams are sitting in dead last right now, it makes absolutely no sense.
I get that a lot of people are blaming their manager Aaron Boone…

…but the players still have to perform. That’s ultimately what this all boils down to.
And the numbers back me up on that:
Since last season’s All-Star break, Clay Holmes has not been dependable for the Yankees.

The Yankees are garbage right now, and the players might want to start pointing at themselves before it’s too late. (RELATED: Cody Mauch, 0-Star Recruit With No D1 Offers, Became An Absolute Savage In Four Years Before Bucs Draft)
What an embarrassment to those beautiful pinstripes.
