Climate activist Greta Thunberg warned that the entire human race will die today unless we stop using fossil fuels.
Thunberg issued this grim warning in a June 21, 2018 tweet, claiming fossil fuels will lead to human extinction “over the next five years.” Exactly five years have passed, and we are still here.
Conservatives have mocked Thunberg’s warning on Twitter.
Are we extinct yet, @GretaThunberg? It’s been exactly five years. pic.twitter.com/pR7657ssPA

Five years ago today, left-wing climate activist Greta Thunberg tweeted, “A top climate scientist is warning that climate change will wipe out all of humanity unless we stop using fossil fuels over the next five years.”

Enjoy your final minutes, because, according to Greta Thunberg & her “top climate scientist” humanity will be “wiped out” at 11.18am today, because we didn’t stop using fossil fuels five years ago… 🤡🌎 pic.twitter.com/myVCLspQnr

Thunberg rose to fame by lecturing world leaders and adults about climate change starting in her teenage years. Police detained the Swedish activist during a climate protest in January. She also launched a years-long campaign of “school strikes,” which involved students skipping school to protest climate change. The United Nations considers fossil fuels to be the largest contributor to climate change and account for the majority of greenhouse gas emissions, according to one of its reports. However, despite increasing fossil fuel use, data shows that air and water quality have increased even as fossil fuel consumption increases. Furthermore, alternatives to fossil fuels such as electric vehicles and wind turbines are not only expensive, but have been linked to child labor, deforestation and other environmental damage.
