Paramount+ dropped the full length trailer for “Yellowstone” co-creator Taylor Sheridan’s latest show “Special Ops: Lioness” Monday.

The trailer for “Special Ops: Lioness” essentially proves the unstoppable talent of Taylor Sheridan’s writing in three different ways. The first is just the pure, raw talent that Sheridan has managed to bring into this latest show. With names like Zoe Saldana, Nicole Kidman, Morgan Freeman, and so many more attached to this show, you know that we’re about to see something epic.

But it’s not until the trailer gets into full swing do we realize just how well Sheridan writes not only drama and dark comedy, but adrenaline-junkie action that’ll make your heart pound like nothing else.

And within that action, we’re introduced to a series of powerful women, the likes of which Sheridan should be known for — but for some reason, he’s not. This is the third reason why I think “Special Ops: Lioness,” is going to be one of the most important pieces of television to be released in 2023.

Finding the balance between feminine, female, girly, brash, powerful, emotional — all those complex things that make up the modern woman — is tough, even for female writers. Women are often hyperbolized in their roles, becoming a caricature of our gender.

Except for those written by Sheridan. (RELATED: Stunning Updates In ‘Yellowstone’ Off-Screen Saga Will Have Fans Stressed As Heck)

We knew Sheridan could create the perfect on-screen leading woman because he cast Emily Blunt in the main role for his hit-film “Sicario.” Since then, he’s offered us Beth Dutton, Elsa Dutton, and so many other supporting roles for brilliant, relatable female characters. But something is clearly different with “Special Ops: Lioness.” It’ll probably take a full episode to reveal precisely what that is, and it can’t come soon enough.

“Special Ops: Lioness” drops in full on Paramount+ on July 23, 2023. You can watch the full trailer here:
