Country music superstar Morgan Wallen invited the family of an Idaho murder victim Ethan Chapin to his San Diego show Saturday.

Chapin’s mother, Stacy Chapin, shared her experience on social media, saying that Wallen gifted her family tickets to the concert, and even flew his mother out to meet with the family. “On Mother’s Day 2022, Ethan sent me the best text about how [Wallen] had written a song for his mom [Lesli Wallen] and how that could be our song,” Chapin wrote in the caption of a post shared on Instagram.

“It was a very touching moment between us. I listen to ‘I Thought You Should Know’ all the time. I’ve told this story a lot, and to our surprise, a very kind person made an introduction.” She called the gift a “bittersweet full-circle moment.”

Wallen also gifted Chapin with a check for her late son’s charity, the Ethan’s Smile Foundation, which provides educational opportunities for students, Entertainment Tonight noted. The donation to the charity was provided by the Morgan Wallen Foundation, which also helps children through music and sports programs. Ethan Chapin was amongst four University of Idaho students who were murdered in their home in November 2022. The alleged murderer, Bryan Kohlberger, 28, has pleaded not guilty to the crimes and will go to trial in October 2023.
