Woman Arrested After Allegedly Trying To Murder Boyfriend And Terminate Full-Term Pregnancy

A pregnant Florida woman was arrested after allegedly attempting to murder her boyfriend and allegedly trying to kill her unborn child via multiple means.

Debra Whiteman, 24, was arrested Sunday after she allegedly stabbed the father of her unborn child and allegedly attempted terminate her full-term pregnancy through the use of violence, alcohol and pills, according to a media release from the Pembroke Pines Police Department (PPPD). Whiteman had allegedly “been attempting” to end her pregnancy over the course of the last “two to three months.” (RELATED: Woman Found Guilty Of Murdering, Dismembering Boyfriend After Testimony Describing Abuse Of Corpse)

“The suspect, 24-year-old Debra Elena Whiteman, is 39-weeks pregnant and has been attempting to terminate the pregnancy over the last two to three months through the use of pills, alcohol and punching herself in the stomach,” the PPPD wrote in the media release.

The police department explained that officers from the department had arrived at the couple’s home Sunday “regarding a domestic disturbance,” according to the press release.

After the couple had gotten into an argument, Whiteman allegedly stabbed the father of her unborn child as he was sleeping, at which point a family member was able to disarm Whiteman and contact the police, according to the press release.

Whiteman’s boyfriend was taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries, per the press release.

Following an initial investigation, Whiteman has been charged with “Premeditated Attempted Murder” along with “Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon.” She is currently being supervised by the Broward Sheriff’s Office and receiving medical care at a hospital, the press release noted.
