Fox News guest and former U.S. Assistant Attorney Andrew McCarthy skewered the latest media effort to downplay allegations that President Joe Biden was involved in his son Hunter’s business dealings.

Hunter’s former business associate Devon Archer told Congress on Monday that President Joe Biden was involved in more than a dozen calls between Hunter and his associates.

The president has denied any involvement with his son’s dealings, saying in 2019 he has “never discussed” with Hunter “or anyone else anything having to do with their business, period.” Biden doubled down, telling Fox News’ Peter Doocy he has “never spoken to [his] son about his overseas business dealings.” In Oct. 2019, he said, “I don’t discuss business with my son.”

Host Dana Perino said that in her experience, once the media “starts on one track, basically it is like herding cattle,” arguing the media is starting to cover the allegations and Biden’s persistent denial of knowledge. “I would just say, Dana, if you didn’t have the herding effect you just discussed, a lot of the patent silliness of what they are describing, or what the comeback explanation is here, would be obvious. For example, if you sell the illusion of access, that’s fraud. If you are selling something that doesn’t exist, it is fraudulent. These people are only paying the Biden’s because of Joe Biden. There is no other reason to pay,” McCarthy said.

“And the other thing, it’s nonsense that they were buying Washington rather than buying the Biden’s. Hunter tells Tony Bobulinski, I think we have this in a recording or an email, I can’t remember which, but he says these people want to be in business with the Biden’s. Bobulinski is explaining Hunter doesn’t do any work and Bobulinski is doing the work to give the thing a corporate structure and Hunter is off doing stuff but getting a big cut of the profits. He comes back and says I know it’s not fair, life is not fair. They want to be in business with the business. They didn’t want to be in business with Washington. Burisma could have gotten any number of Washington insiders who actually knew something about the energy business. They didn’t need that. They needed a Biden because Joe Biden was the one who was running the Obama administration’s policy to Ukraine. So there are a million little instances it is obvious what they are buying is the influence and access of the Biden’s.”

Democratic New York Rep. Daniel Goldman said Monday that Hunter frequently put his father on speakerphone while talking with his business partners. Hunter’s former business associate Devon Archer testified Monday that Hunter was added to Burisma’s board due to “the brand” that came with Joe Biden.
