Local authorities reported that New York Police officers were on the pursuit of a 20-year-old man who stole a black SUV on Tuesday, causing havoc and leaving several people injured, according to ABC 7. Officers started to chase down the suspect once they recognized the car he was driving as the same one stolen in the Bronx last month. The man increased his speed when he saw police cars turning their lights on, as the outlet reported.

During the pursuit, the suspect hit a bicycle, struck a yellow taxi and mounted over the sidewalk injuring several pedestrians. After making a U-turn in a busy intersection, the man was driving in the wrong way on Lexington Avenue and crashed against a black sedan, bringing the chase to an end.

In the mayhem, three vehicles were damaged and 10 people got injured. The man was detained by the bystanders while waiting for the arrival of the police.

A woman who was the suspect’s passenger fled the scene and is now on the loose.
