Aerosmith front man Steven Tyler is reportedly suffering from a far more serious vocal cord injury than initially suggested.

Sources close to Tyler said the legendary rock star can barely speak, according to TMZ.  Tyler flew to Boston to see an ENT doctor, and x-rays reportedly show his vocal cords are “mangled.” Doctors reportedly gave the famous artist strict instructions to rest his voice for at least 30 days.

Sources said he currently “squeaks” when he attempts to speak, according to TMZ.

Tyler initially took to social media Tuesday and told fans his vocal cords were “bleeding” as a result of over-exertion at Saturday’s show.

“I’m heartbroken to say I have received strict doctor’s orders not to sing for the next thirty days. I sustained vocal cord damage during Saturday’s show that led to subsequent bleeding,” Tyler wrote to fans.

“We’ll need to postpone a few dates so that we can come back and give you the performance you deserve,” he said.

It has since been revealed the injury to his vocal cords occurred early on in Saturday’s concert, but he was dedicated to completing the live performance and continued to power through the pain. He managed to hit his signature high-note during the band’s song “Dream On,” and nobody had any idea there was anything wrong. (RELATED: Bruce Springsteen Abruptly Cancels Tour Dates)
