The trailer for Nicolas Cage’s next film, “Dream Scenario,” dropped Tuesday, and it’s the weirdest thing you’ll watch for awhile.

A balding, unassuming, overweight professor keeps wandering around various people’s dreams, even those who don’t seem to know him. No, this isn’t a horror movie, it’s the premise of Cage’s next film … and it’s so bizarre, it might make your brain melt.

From what I can gather in the trailer, Cage’s character seems to randomly pop up in people’s dreams. He doesn’t do anything. He’s just there, and he’s showing up in almost everyone’s heads.

“Nicolas Cage stars as Paul Matthews, a listless family man and tenured professor with an affinity for evolutionary biology and anxiety regarding his own anonymity. One day, he discovers he has begun to appear in other people’s dreams at an exponential rate,” the movie’s official description reads. “As in life, his presence in these dreams is banal and non-intrusive – he’s simply there, staring indifferently at the fantasies and nightmares of strangers. Nonetheless, he becomes an overnight celebrity, and is soon showered with the attention he has long been denied.”

I don’t want to give too much away, but things apparently take a turn for the worse. And after watching just the two-minute trailer, I cannot wait to see how and why. (RELATED: We Somehow Missed Nick Cage As Dracula In This Hysterical Movie Trailer)

Who of us hasn’t had a crazy dream or two? I went years without dreaming, but in the last few months (through absolutely no intervention), I’ve been having vivid dreams every single night. And I’m not alone. A lot of people I’ve spoken to are experiencing the same thing, suddenly. So, could there be some truth to the “Dream Scenario” premise? Maybe.

We’ll have to wait until the film hits cinemas Nov. 10 to find out.
