Eighty-year-old President Joe Biden slipped up during an address Thursday, praising the “Congressional Black Caucus” while speaking at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute’s annual gala.

Biden appeared at the gala to honor Sister Norma Pimentel, the executive director of Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley, who was being recognized at the event. The president gave a speech honoring Norma in which he confused the two congressional minority caucuses.

“I know Sister Norma lives the lessons nuns taught me growing up. Lessons based on the Gospel of Matthew: feed the hungry, care for the sick, welcome strangers,” Biden said. “They echo what my dad taught me — and I mean this sincerely — my dad used to say, ‘Everyone, everyone is entitled to be treated with dignity and respect.’ The Congressional Black Caucus embodies all those values.”

The president’s mix-up comes just one day after another gaffe at a campaign event in New York City. There, Biden told donors a story about what inspired him to run for president, and then repeated it again moments later, nearly word for word. On the 22nd anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Biden said he had been at Ground Zero on Sept. 12, 2001, a claim the White House was unable to back up in response to a Daily Caller inquiry. Concerns about the president’s age have increased in recent months as the president continues to make errors during speeches and events. A majority of Americans, 77 percent believe the president is too old to effectively govern the country, according to an Associated Press/NORC poll. Of those who say the president can’t govern effectively because of his age, 85 percent don’t want Biden to run for reelection in 2024.
