Paramount+ dropped the full trailer for “Lawmen: Bass Reeves” Tuesday, and it looks like it’ll give every other Taylor Sheridan show a run for its money.

The very real Bass Reeves (played by David Oyelowo) profoundly changed the course of history in modern America, maybe more than any other lawman. But he’s one of the few most of us haven’t heard of … until now.

Reeves’ journey through the Old West has finally been developed for television by Oyelowo and “Yellowstone” co-creator Taylor Sheridan, who took on a role as executive producer. And its full-length trailer suggests it’s going to be one of the biggest shows of the year.

In true Sheridan fashion, tensions are high, the cinematography is gorgeous and a slew of heavy-hitters are lined up to play their small part in telling this iconic story. The one I’m most excited to see? Dennis Quaid as a redneck lawman.

Quaid has always been able to handle whatever role is thrown at him. But there is rarely a lot in his roles for him to sink his teeth into. I think Sheridan made a brilliant decision bringing him into this cast. It could be the role of his lifetime. (RELATED: Mainstream Hollywood Hates America, So It Hates ‘Special Ops: Lioness’ Too)

With the closing credits of Sheridan’s last series, “Special Ops: Lioness,” barely behind us, it’s great to know we’ll have some new content to get into this winter season. “Lawmen: Bass Reeves” premieres Nov. 5 on Paramount+.
