The super political action committee (PAC) supporting Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s presidential bid announced Tuesday that it raised over $11 million since the candidate changed his party affiliation from Democrat to independent on Monday, according to a press release.

Kennedy announced at a Pennsylvania rally that he will now run for president as an independent, following frustration with the Democratic National Committee. American Values 2024 said it received the donations within just six hours of Kennedy’s announcement from Democrats, Republicans and independents nationwide, according to the press release.

“Americans don’t like censorship or propaganda and they are tired of being lied to,” Tony Lyons, co-founder of the super PAC, said in a statement. “It’s clear that Bobby is inspiring a populist movement that unites left and right, black, and white, rural and urban, young and old.”

“His campaign is a movement built for and by the people, not corrupt politicians and corporations. You can see it from town to town across the country: There is real electricity and a palpable desire for change,” Lyons added. (RELATED: RFK Jr. Announces Presidential Run As Independent Candidate)

Kennedy asked Americans to join him in declaring independence from both major political parties, as well as corporations, “Big Pharma,” “Big Tech,” the “mercenary media” and “cynical elites” in his party-switch announcement speech.

Prior to his announcement, Kennedy was polling at 14.6%, which was behind President Joe Biden at 61.6%, according to the RealClearPolitics average from Sept. 8 to Sept. 29. A Reuters/Ipsos survey released Thursday suggested that Kennedy would siphon off votes from both Biden and former President Donald Trump as an independent candidate, where he received 14% support.

“Millions of independent-minded Americans are seeing through the most powerful censorship and propaganda campaign against any candidate in American political history,” said Lyons. “They are angry at the DNC for attempting to disenfranchise them, eager to support an honest Democrat and more open than ever before in American history to an Independent and honest candidate.”
