A CNN guest put a wedge on the White House’s messaging and the term “Bidenomics” on Tuesday, arguing it does not resonate with voters.

Leigh Ann Caldwell, an anchor for the The Washington Post Live podcast, said Americans do not know what “Bidenomics” is, leading to Democrats wanting to get rid of the term.

“One of the problems that the Biden campaign, which you kind of mentioned in your story, is that the message is not translated to voters very well,” Caldwell said. “You talked about ‘Bidenomics’ and how there are some people who are trying to do away with that term. It’s funny talking to members of Congress before the break about ‘Bidenomics’ and they say, ‘Oh, we talk about it all the time in our districts. we try to talk, tell people about it, what it means,’ and it’s like, but do you use the word and they’re like, ‘No.’ People don’t know what that means, so they are having this messaging gap that they’re trying to remind people about prescription drug prices, about infrastructure, where shovels are just now getting into the ground, so they have a pretty big task ahead.”

The president’s campaign coined the term “Bidenomics,” which they have defined as “growing the economy from the middle out and the bottom up, not the top-down.” Biden’s inner circle has reportedly been scrambling to rescue its “Bidenomics” messaging after learning voters were not resonating with the current messaging. During the scramble, the president reportedly went an entire month without mentioning the term throughout November. In June, the president blamed the press for coining the term despite himself and the White House having used it publicly.

A Gallup poll from late November found that 67% of respondents disapproved of Biden’s economic handling, while 32% approved.
