Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade tore into Defense Sec. Lloyd Austin on Wednesday for hiding his cancer surgery from not only the public but the Biden administration.

The White House ordered a protocol review after Austin failed to notify the president and other authorities that he was in the ICU at Walter Reed. The Pentagon said Tuesday that Austin was secretly hospitalized after complications arose from his prostate cancer.

Kilmeade argued that no one is trying to cover for Austin because “it’s impossible to cover for him.”

“What does it say about the president of the United States with the Middle East about to explode like we haven’t seen since the 1970s that he could not want to talk to his secretary of defense?… With the Houthi rebels targeting our ships, with the decision to blow up three boats the week before he evidently decided on elective surgery, which is like saying a C-section is elective surgery,” Kilmeade said. “Sooner or later, the baby has to come out, unless he wants to slowly wither from prostate cancer. So I don’t buy anything that its elective surgery.” (RELATED: Doocy Leaves Kirby Stammering With One Simple Question After Austin Disappearance)

“What kind of administration has to communicate so little that you could let this slip by for two weeks in the middle of multiple hot wars?… In case of a nuclear attack, you have 15 minutes to make a decision to answer back. We got Iran with nuclear weapons it seems, or on the cusp. We know that the biggest increase of nuclear weapons in the world is maybe our number one enemy, China! A hot war with Russia and Ukraine! Hypersonic missiles raining in to Kyiv, and the secretary of defense doesn’t tell his chief of staff or his deputy he is out for 10 days?”

“If this is not fireable, nothing is, and nothing else tells you about the dysfunction of a White House, politics aside, than this week. This is your job interview and you are failing, Mr. President, and Mr. Secretary of Defense as a general. You have failed your military training. You should be fired and you should resign as soon as you get out of your hospital bed.”

National security adviser John Kirby said Monday during a press briefing that the White House didn’t know the reason for Austin’s hospital stay and Biden was also only made aware of the prostate cancer on Tuesday. Biden is not considering firing Austin, a White House official told Daily Caller and that if Austin tried to hand in a letter of resignation, the president would not accept, according to Politico.

The House Armed Services Committee launched a formal inquiry Tuesday into Austin’s failure to notify the president and other national security leaders. Republicans expressed “grave concern” over the lack of clarity and communication breakdown.
