Voters in the the Bronx told Fox News host Rachel Campos-Duffy on Wednesday that 2024 presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump’s rally Thursday in the South Bronx will “bring light to the hood.”

On the heels of massive turnout at his Wildwood, New Jersey, rally in early May, Trump announced Friday that he will hold his first rally in New York since 2016. Campos-Duffy traveled to the Bronx where she discovered firsthand that several voters in the area are vocal supporters of the Republican candidate.

One man from the Bronx told Campos-Duffy that Trump would be received with “open arms” during his rally at Crotona Park.

“That’s some good stuff for him. That’s some good stuff for him, yeah. Him coming here is gonna bring light to the hood,” the Bronx resident said. “Him coming here is gonna show that at least he’s trying.”

“Everybody gonna show him love. You come show love, we’re gonna show you love right back,” he added.

Another New York City resident said Trump’s Manhattan trial made the former president “a superstar” among voters otherwise disinterested in politics. He slammed Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and the Democratic Party for “going after” Trump with “a sham trial.” (RELATED: ‘She Is Never Here’: Residents Of AOC’s District Blast NYC’s Crime Wave, Migrant Crisis)

“He’s a superstar,” the New York City resident told Campos-Duffy. “There’s a lot of people coming out in support of him once again, like people that weren’t interested in politics. Now they’re watching a sham trial. They’re watching all these things happen and they’re just like, ‘What is going on?’ You know? They’re hearing more about Trump than maybe, I think that in my opinion, they overplayed their hand by going after the former president of the United States.”

Trump, who boosted his support in New York to 38%, narrowed the gap between himself and Biden to single digits as the Democratic president sits at 47% support in the historically blue state, according to a Wednesday poll from Siena College. Biden has been hemorrhaging support across key battleground states and Democratic strongholds, polling data shows. In 2020, Biden received 23% more votes in New York than Trump.

“Trump is doing something that no one has did, has done. He’s uh, keeping such a respect to the Bronx,” one Bronx local told the Fox News host.

“Before Trump, you know, it was, it was not too, it was not really considered, like, would they really go into the Democratic, uh, strongholds? Would they really go into the poor neighborhoods?” one local woman in the Bronx said.

Another local Bronx woman told Fox News that “not all Democrats vote Democrat” and says that she, a registered Democrat, has not voted for her party affiliation since “the age of Ronald Reagan.”

One Hispanic local agreed with Campos-Duffy that Trump’s Manhattan trial resembles “a lot of things we’ve seen in Latin America.” He said that many of his Cuban friends are “frustrated” because they “see this” in their countries of origin.

Trump will take the stage in the South Bronx at 6:00 p.m.
