Disney CEO Bob Iger decided to hit the final nail in his financial coffin Wednesday after buying into a deal with Angel City Football Club (ACFC) … a women’s soccer team.

Either Iger is actually the biggest idiot in the room, or a freaking genius of electric proportions after partnering with USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism dean Willow Bay to become the controlling owners of ACFC, as Deadline reports. Did this man just figure out exactly how to pander to the three people who care about American soccer (let alone women’s soccer) while also potentially writing off a huge tax liability through the astronomical losses he could face from this purchase? Maybe.

ACFC apparently has an Enterprise Value of $250 million, which I assume is the combined value of the infrastructure, turf, materials used to build the stadium, lighting, screws used throughout, the plumbing equipment used by the team? It’s the most valuable women’s sports team in the world, which should tell you everything you need to know about women’s sports.

Listen, women will always support other women who are successful in sports — except for you, Megan Rapinoe, Britney Griner, and anyone who supports men in women’s sports — that doesn’t mean we (en masse) want to watch you play. Ever.

We have a million more important things to do with our limited free time than waste it watching women play games. And you need to grow the heck up if you think there’s an argument against this point that isn’t exclusively built from your personal biases on the topic. Men aren’t going to suddenly start watching women’s sports, so what the heck is Iger doing with himself? I refuse to believe he’s actually stupid enough to think women’s soccer will be interesting to tens of millions of Americans … unless they figure out a way to get tens of millions of young American girls into the sport.

If he manages to do this, I’ll be extremely impressed (and assume he got the idea from me).
