PITTSBURGH (AP) — A western Pennsylvania defense contractor has been again suspended from accepting government contracts.

Kuchera Defense Systems Inc. of Windber was suspended Dec. 22 for allegedly paying more than $200,000 in kickbacks to a prime contractor. The information surfaced in July when an official from that company, Coherent Systems International, pleaded guilty to defrauding the government in U.S. District Court in Pensacola, Fla.

Kuchera’s attorney says the company is fighting the suspension, and says it’s based on information the government already had when it lifted another suspension in August.

That suspension began in April when Kuchera was accused of overcharging the government. A Navy spokesman says the earlier suspension was lifted after Kuchera addressed those problems.
