Illinois State Police are looking into the shooting death of Washington Park, Illinois, Mayor John Thornton after his body was found in his car Thursday morning.
The mayor’s car was found crashed into a tree. He was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead at approximately 6 a.m., according to reports.
Reports stated the mayor was shot twice in the chest at point-blank range.
