He talked to hard-hitting journalist Matt Lauer this morning, and it was every bit as sane and rational as you’d imagine:
Lauer asked McGinniss how he responded to critics who said moving next door to Sarah Palin while writing a book about her is “creepy.” McGinniss responded, “Creepy is as creepy does,” and asserted that if Palin did not live there, he still would have moved.
He would have moved 4,500 miles to write a book about Sarah Palin even if the house wasn’t right next door to Sarah Palin’s. Maybe he just likes moose chili, ever think about that?
Here’s the best part, though:
McGinniss didn’t stop there, and accused Palin of “unleashing the hounds of hell,” having a willingness to “incite hatred” and using “Nazi trooper” tactics reminiscent of the 1930s. Lauer declined to press McGinniss on how he could justify such an extreme comparison.
Why would he? Any reasonable person can see the parallels. When Hitler decided he needed to wipe out the Jews, he wrote a Facebook post mocking their presence in his back yard.
One thing stalkers like to do is put the blame on the people they’re stalking. “Why won’t she leave me alone?”, the stalker protests, as he smears his finger- and noseprints on her windows. This might be the first time one of them has found a sympathetic ear at the Today Show, though.
