House Democrats raise more than GOP rivals

House Democrats are heading into the last leg of the midterm race with a better funded campaign committee than their GOP rivals, according to early numbers released to Washington Wire this evening.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee raised $8.3 million in August compared with $6.6 million for the National Republican Congressional Committee. The DCCC also closed out the month with more cash on hand than the NRCC ($39 million compared with $25 million) while spending more. The committee, charged with keeping Democrats in the majority next year, spent $5.1 million in August, compared with $3.1 million for the GOP group.
