That’s probably not fair. I shouldn’t say “comeback.” He’s kept busy over the years since his “Tommy Flanagan” days. But after this, he can forget about any roles in Will Ferrell movies.
Courtesy of Taylor Bigler, here’s a clip from a recent episode of Lovitz’s podcast The ABC’s of SNL, in which he discusses his feelings about voting for Obama. The other voice is that of former filmmaker Kevin Smith, for which I apologize in advance.
WARNING: ADULT LANGUAGE AND KEVIN SMITH’S CHARACTERISTICALLY TIRESOME PASSIVE-AGGRESSIVENESS
I like how Lovitz calls out Smith for his pandering. “Let’s hear it for the 99%! I’m just happy I get to keep some of the money I worked so hard to earn!” How about Occupy Kevin Smith’s Crappy Comic Shop? You think he’d like that?
As Washington, DC grows ever-fatter on the fruits of your labor — seriously, guys, it’s math — expect more and more people to start wondering aloud the same thing Lovitz just did. What’s the point of busting your ass to make something of yourself, pursuing the American dream, when the moment you achieve your goals, the President of the United States declares you Public Enemy #1?
You have the right to pursue happiness. There’s no guarantee you’ll find it.
And if you’re a liberal, it’s impossible anyway.
