A high school English teacher who previously worked as a cheerleader for the Cincinnati Bengals today pleaded guilty to having sex with a male student last year, ABC News has reported.

Sarah Jones, 27, pleaded guilty to sexual misconduct on Monday to avoid a trial and likely jail time. Jones taught English at Dixie Heights High School in Kentucky before resigning last November, when she was apparently still having sex with the 17-year-old student. The prosecution reportedly offered the deal because the victim and his family refused to cooperate with the government’s investigation.

The trial probably would have publicly exposed sexually explicit text messages between Jones and the student, according to ABC News.

Jones is as much of a stranger to her students as she is to the courtroom. In 2009, Jones sued the website thedirty.com for libel and defamation after posts on the site accused her of having sex with multiple members of the Bengals football team. Users on the site also claimed Jones’ husband had cheated on her multiple times and was known to have sexually transmitted diseases. That case is ongoing.
