Here the latest on nobody’s favorite magazine, from Variety:
Newsweek appears to be on the block — again.
According to sources who have been briefed, IAC is sending out inquiries to prospective buyers who may be interested in purchasing the 80-year-old title, which ended weekly publication of its domestic edition late last year in favor of an digital-only format. A revamped Newsweek.com launched earlier this month.
As with the first sale of Newsweek, the price is expected to be negligible; what will matter more is the assumption of liabilities, although Newsweek is a much pared-down operation.
I’m sure they’ll find a buyer. Newsweek is a great name for a magazine, isn’t it? Oh wait, I just checked my calendar and it’s not 1933.
What’s going to happen if Newsweek finally goes under? Where will people go for the left-wing, Obama-coddling news and opinion they need? Well, besides ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, the New York Times, the Washington Post, HuffPo, BuzzFeed, Daily Kos, Rolling Stone, Time, GQ, Esquire, the Atlantic…
I guess veering even further to the left wasn’t the way to go for Newsweek, huh? I guess alienating even more of their readers didn’t help them find, y’know, new readers.
Oh well. Seemed like a good idea at the time.
