NFL nobodies Maurkice and Mike Pouncey have gotten league heads all worked up after an Instagram picture circulated of the twins wearing “Free Hernandez” hats.

The pics refer to former New England Patriots wide receiver Aaron Hernandez, who was recently charged with the murder of Odin Lloyd.

Maurkice Pouncey has since issued an apology at the urging of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“I fully recognize the seriousness of the situation involving my former teammate, and I regret that my actions appear to make light of that serious situation,” the Steelers center tweeted. “I apologize to anyone who was offended by my actions.”

Mike Pouncey has not yet commented on the controversial photo, but a source close to the Miami Dolphins center expects that the he will soon be discussing the matter with team officials.

The Pouncey brothers attended school at the University of Florida with Hernandez. They allegedly were with Hernandez at a Miami club in 2007 when a shooting occurred that injured two people.

Hernandez was never a suspect, though police have reopened the case.
