On Oct. 28, 71-year-old Ronnie Lummus was walking back to his car after buying groceries with his wife, when they were confronted by an armed masked man, WFAA 8 Dallas reports.

The would-be robber shoved Lummus’ wife to the ground and attempted to steal her necklace.

Unfortunately for him, Big Ron was packing heat.

Lummus fired at the assailant, who eventually died while fleeing the scene.

Witnesses claim the assailant was wildly brandishing a firearm and that Lummus was “justified” in using his weapon.

1) Senior Citizen Saves Cyber Cafe

In 2012, Samuel Williams, a patron at the Palms Internet cafe in Arkansas, drove off two would-be robbers with his .380 pistol.

One of the masked bandits appeared to be carrying a handgun, while the other had a baseball bat.

I guess no one ever told him you shouldn’t bring a bat to a gun fight.

2) Barber Protects Friends, Coworkers From Attempted Robbery

Terrance Duncan protected both his coworkers and clientele from an attempted armed robbery at an Ohio beauty shop in 2012.

When Duncan noticed a masked man threatening customers at the front of the shop, the barber dropped his clippers and grabbed his gun. Duncan aimed at the masked robber and forced him out: “I said politely, ‘OK. You might want to take off now.'”

3) Customer Stops Robbery At Minneapolis ALDI

On Jan. 30, 2012, Dierre Cotton picked the wrong convenience store to rob. Cotton — brandishing a shotugun — threatened the cashier that he would “blow [his] fucking head off.” Luckily Nazir Al-Mujaahid had a clear line of fire … and a semiautomatic 9mm Steyr.

After hitting Cotton and driving him from the store, Al-Mujaahid told The Milwaukee Courier:

“I am a NRA member, a Conceal Carry advocate and even founded ccwadvocates.com. There is a stereotype that the CC person is a back woods loud angry White guy and that is just as disgusting as other stereotypes. The CC community has shown me that I’m welcome. I mean I’m Puerto Rican & African American and I’m also a MUSLIM, talk about not what you expected, but it goes to show that we all have the same concerns and that is our safety and well being of the society no matter your race, religion, or creed.”

4) Female Clerk Defends Herself, Customers From Robber

December Long, a clerk at the Stop & Go in Toledo, Ohio, learned from a past robbery and decided to keep a gun behind the counter to protect herself and her customers.

In November 2013, a second robber tested Long while she was on duty. After being shot in the abdomen, Long returned fire and killed her assailant.

When asked about the situation, a Stop & Go customer said that it was fortunate the clerk had a means to defend herself:

“I would thank her honestly. Because that could’ve happened to someone else, and what if they didn’t have a gun? Just think, if she didn’t have that weapon on her, what could’ve happened to her. This could have been another innocent person dead for no reason.”

5) Gun-Toting Grandpa Defends Wife, Granddaughter From Rapists

Kenneth Byrd, 67, was approached by an individual claiming to have car problems. When Byrd invited the man into his home, he was rushed by two additional assailants wearing black clothes and ski masks.

The home invaders — all three brandishing handguns — corralled Byrd, his wife Judy and their 19-year-old granddaughter and demanded money and other valuables from the family safe.

Byrd initially complied with their demands, but when the men began to beat Judy and attempted to rape his granddaughter, he grabbed a hidden firearm and let loose a flurry of shots at the assailants. In the ensuing firefight, Byrd was shot multiple times but managed to hit all three attackers. 6) 12-Year-Old Girl Drives Off Home Intruder With Glock

Kendra St. Claire was not your typical 12-year-old.

In October 2012, St. Claire was home alone when 32-year-old Stacey Jones broke into her house. Kendra called her mother and 911, then hid in a closet.

While waiting for help to arrive, St. Claire saw the doorknob begin to turn. Luckily, she had her mother’s Glock and knew how to use it.

Kendra shot through the door and hit Jones, who was caught by police after fleeing the scene. Turns out this wasn’t Jones’ first home invasion; he’d been arrested in 2011 for allegedly abducting a mentally handicapped 17-year old.

7) Ex-Marine Stops Attempted Jewelry Store Robbery

Barry Fixler, a Vietnam veteran, stopped two thugs posing as customers at his jewelry store back in 2005.

With a gun in his face, Fixler grabbed his pistol and — in his own words — “just came up shooting.”

“Who the hell do you think you are? You think you’re good enough to rob ME?”

8) Home-Owner Fends Off Four Home Invaders In Broad Daylight

In 2009, four armed assailants got more than they had bargained for while attempting a daring day-time robbery of a Tuscon, Arizona home.

Unfortunately for them, the home owner also owned a means to defend himself and his property.

Fortunately for us, the entire event was caught on personal, home surveillance equipment.

9) Second Amendment — Don’t Leave Home Without It’

Desmond Paige, a recently-paroled violent offender, took to Craigslist in order to perpetrate his next crime. Listing a cellphone for sale, Paige met a Fort Worth resident, with the intention of ripping him off.

Turns out the potential buyer had a concealed handgun license, and he used it on Paige when he threatened to rob him.

Paige died at the scene.

According to Fox Dallas-Fort Worth, Paige received very little sympathy from the local community.

“Second Amendment — don’t leave home without it.”
