Quote of the Day:
“MIA –> DCA = BRR & DUH”
— Politico Mag senior writer Michael Grunwald.
BuzzFeed editor-in-chief Ben Smith once hired Politico‘s Dylan Byers. Are they now foes?
“100% w/ Michael.” — Byers on Vanity Fair‘s Michael Wolff, who took Smith to the dinner with Uber execs as his “date.” See Wolff’s scathing interpretation of the dinner here in a column for USA Today. He basically says Smith was full of sh&% in terms of what the dinner was really like.
What’s all the commotion?
“Strange that Uber sees journalists as threats. Journalists are some of Uber’s biggest promoters.” — HuffPost‘s Jason Cherkis.
Another view entirely on the whole Uber-BuzzFeed dustup
“If more businesses realized that many journalists actually hate successful companies, maybe more would want to fight back. @Uber” — Dan Gainor, Veep of Business and Culture at the right-wing Media Research Center.
Ashton Kutcher thinks Uber investigating journos is A-OK
“Ashton Kutcher is an investor in Uber. He thinks threatening critical journalists and their children is cool.” — Mark Ames, PandoDaily, linking to the above tweet from the actor.
A direct jab at Luke Russert?
“Why anybody voluntarily lives in Buffalo remains a mystery.” — Iowahawk blog’s David Burge.
Q for NPR’s Steve Inskeep today on his feed: “Why does @NPRinskeep try to get @SenSanders to say white people?” Inskeep replied, “Thanks. Because I knew it was on his mind – as he showed.”
THANKS FOR SHARING! Selections from sick and twisted (and otherwise normal) people on my Twitter feed
Backstory: I defended CNN’s Don Lemon for asking one of Bill Cosby‘s rape accuser why she didn’t bite him during the blow job she says he forced her to give him. In a separate news report, model Janice Dickinson has also accused Cosby of rape.
khandel84: “Too bad you are defending a guy who blames rape victims for being raped. Pretty clear how you feel.” And this: “Because implying that women can stop rape isn’t blaming them for their rape. You are a brilliant moron. That’s what you’re [sic].”
jonathandenet: “You sound like a real fool defending him.”
JimCreston: “Betsy is Rape’s best friend.
adamannapolis: “Rape is vile.”
thekingofbutts: “Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.”
wvccc: “Isn’t it sad that some people feel a ‘good’ story is more important than decency?” And this: “Women who already have the deck stacked against them reporting it don’t need to see their motives questioned.” And this: “Have you ever had a friend come to you about being raped? It is scary, heartbreaking, horrifying.” And this: “So, entertainment value is more important than respecting both sides to you. Again, what is wrong with you?”
Washington Examiner’s Ashe Schow: “Why take a pill from anyone, really?”
Leonorcita2: “Shame on you Betsy”
Johnmcglasson1: “Janice Dickinson has never turned down a pill or drink from anyone. Credibility? ZERO”
Convo Between Two Journos: On taking pills from Bill Cosby
Breitbart‘s Mary Chastain: “I don’t like taking pills from anyone unless I have a migraine.”
Daily Caller‘s Jim Antle: “Perhaps concealed in a bowl of Jello pudding?”
