President Obama offered Billy Joel a cigarette.
Joel told a source for The Hill’s gossip column that Obama offered to smoke with him at the White House, apparently last December when Joel visited Obama’s residence for the Kennedy Center Honors.
“I was at the White House recently, and President Obama did the same thing. He said, ‘I’m going out on the North Portico to have a smoke. Do you want to come with me?'” Joel is quoted as saying.
Obama publicly claims that he quit smoking since winning the presidency in 2008.
Billy Joel reportedly hadn’t had a cigarette for the longest time. For the longest time.
It is unclear whether the cigarette in question was a Sweet Virginia Cigarette that was burning in his hand and used to be a friend of his but now he understands it’s been eating him up for some time and is gonna get him somewhere along the line.
