Marvel Studios on Monday released the second trailer for the upcoming “Avengers” sequel “Age of Ultron,” the newest 100 seconds of which indicates Earth’s mightiest heroes are in for their biggest fight yet — literally.
After giving fans a lengthier peek at Ultron (James Spader), Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) along with the rest of the original cast, the trailer cuts to a knock-down, drag-out fight (again, literally) between the Hulk and Iron Man in his legendary comic-inspired “Hulk Buster” armor.
The sequel takes its title from the 2013 comic book storyline of the same name in which Ultron — the genocidal artificial intelligence accidentally created by Hank Pym (a.k.a. Ant Man) — succeeds in conquering Earth and nearly wiping out humanity with an army of homicidal robots.
The Avengers battle through a dystopian wasteland and eventually alternate timelines to try and stop the malevolent AI.
“Avengers: Age of Ultron” hits theaters May 1, 2015.
