Politico has done the most Politico thing ever.
It nominated itself for a National Magazine Award from The American Society of Magazine Editors and is now extremely proud of itself because it has secured nominations in two categories.
The categories are: Website, General Excellence/General Interest.
“It is a tremendous honor to receive this recognition in our first year as a publication,” said Susan Glasser, Politico editor and Politico Magazine founder in a statement. “Our great journalism is proof that, in this digital era, there is still a great hunger for excellent long-form journalism.”
Politico Magazine launched in 2013.
In this contest, 263 magazines were nominated for 24 categories. Out of those, Politico became finalists in the following categories:
- Website. Their competitors are New York Magazine, Refinery29, Nautilus Magazine and The Atlantic;
- General Excellence/General Interest. Their competitors are GQ, NYT, The New Yorker and Wired.
Winners will be announced on February 2, 2015.
