Lena Dunham Is Totally Sorry For Comparing Cosby Rape Claims To The HOLOCAUST

With her career in freefall as her HBO show “Girls” premiered down 40 percent from last year, Lena Dunham is acutely aware that she must say edgier, more reckless things to get people to pay any attention to her.

To that effect, in a Jan. 16 interview with Timeout New York, Dunham suggested that the current rape allegations against comedian Bill Cosby are as historically significant as the systematic murder of 11 million human beings (including six million Jews) by German Nazis and their collaborators.

Dunham has already issued an anticipatory apology for her statements, the Daily Mail reports.

The bizarro comments occurred as Dunham was riffing about her respect for prolific rom-com director Judd Apatow, who has fiercely criticized Cosby after numerous sexual assault accusations came to light.

After Dunham’s interlocutor happily called Apataw “obsessed” with the Cosby allegations, Dunham declared that the allegations against Cosby are as important in the annals of human history as the Holocaust.

“It’s sort of like saying someone’s obsessed with the Holocaust,” Dunham told Timeout. “This is a huge issue, and it speaks to the way that we abuse power and the way that celebrity allows for injustice.”

Since the interview was published, Dunham has described it as “a ball” via Instagram, the Mail notes.

She has also snidely retracted the Bill-Cosby-is-just-like-six-million-dead-Jewish-people analogy.

“Additionally I’m already aware comparing Bill Cosby to the Holocaust wasn’t my best analogy,” she said.

“With Love from your special rape-hating Jew friend LENA.”

Dunham also mentioned that said is very excited about Timeout’s ludicrously, excruciatingly Photoshopped imagery of herself designed to look like the actually attractive actress Marilyn Monroe in the pop art construction of Andy Warhol.
