It’s never a bad time to remind all you wingnuts: Just because a human being has been accused of committing a crime, it doesn’t mean that she and/or he gives up her and/or his civil rights. Thoughtless words are every bit as violent as bullets, if not more so. Why do you think they’re called “trigger warnings”?
Shooting Outside NSA Headquarters Took Down Men Disguised As Women
A vehicle rammed the gates of the National Security Agency’s headquarters at Fort Meade about 20 miles outside of Washington D.C., MyFoxDC reports. An NSA police officer reportedly fired on the vehicle, killing one and injuring a second around 9:00 a.m. Monday morning.
NBC News reported that two men driving the stolen vehicle, which contained drugs and at least one gun, were disguised as women and were apparently trying to enter the headquarter’s property.
Excuse me, Ms. and/or Mr. Harper? They were disguised as women? This is exactly the sort of patriarchal, heteronormative slur I’d expect from the Daily Bagger.
Would we say that Chelsea Manning is disguised as a woman? No, we most certainly would not. Chelsea Manning is a woman, because Chelsea Manning says she’s a woman. You don’t get to tell her who she is.*
How do we know that these two individuals haven’t made a similar declaration of gender identity? Calling them “men” is sexist, misogynist, and quite probably racist. Claiming, without evidence, that they were “in disguise” is utterly repulsive.
Shame on Casey Harper. Shame on the Daily Failer. And most of all, shame on you for reading this.
*If she ever decides to be a man again, I suppose that would be acceptable. But… why? Gross.
