For the first time in nearly 40 years, the world has been graced with a Triple Crown champion.
After winning the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes earlier in 2015, American Pharoah defeated the field at the Belmont Stakes Saturday, becoming the first horse to complete racing’s ultimate triumvirate since 1978 and twelfth all-time.
The win was American Pharoah’s seventh consecutive win.
