After a House Benghazi Select Committee discovered either Hillary Clinton or the State Department withheld Benghazi emails, House Speaker John Boehner used the occasion to throw Bill Clinton’s infidelity in her face.
“When it comes to Hillary Clinton’s #Benghazi-related emails, it depends upon what the meaning of the word ‘all’ is,” Boehner tweeted Wednesday, linking to a post on his blog titled “It Depends Upon What the Meaning of the Word ‘All’ Is.”

The line’s a reference to Bill’s infamous attempt to argue his way out of perjury before a grand jury after having oral sex with Monica Lewinsky and then lying about it. “It depends upon what the meaning of the word ‘is’ is,” he said, arguing he wasn’t lying when he said he “is” not in an improper relationship with Monica Lewinsky.
“If the–if he–if ‘is’ means is and never has been, that is not–that is one thing. If it means there is none, that was a completely true statement. ”
Boehner made the reference Wednesday after the Select Committee found new emails related to Benghazi, despite Hillary’s insistence “all emails” had been turned over.
In March, her lawyer informed Rep. Trey Gowdy, committee chairman that “personal attorneys for Secretary Clinton delivered to [the Obama administration] all emails from the hdr22@clintonemail.com account that were related or potentially related to Secretary clinton’s work as Secretary of State.”
The State Department publicly released 296 of the emails that had been turned over and provided to the Select Committee. Spokeswoman Marie Harf insisted “every email of hers that we had that was related to their request on Benghazi, we gave to them.”
But House GOP Benghazi investigators have discovered 60 new emails that had not been turned over to the committee, suggesting that either Hillary or the State Department lied.
“First she set up a private server to avoid transparency and records law, then she wiped it clean while its contents were under subpoena — and apparently failed to ensure congressional investigators were provided with everything they are entitled to,” Boehner said in a statement Tuesday. “What in the world is she trying to hide?”
