Jeb Bush came to the defense of Ben Carson in the wake of a Politico story that argued that Carson lied about a West Point scholarship insisting, “If it’s between Politico and Ben Carson. Put me on the Ben Carson column please.” (RELATED: Team Carson: ‘Politico Story Is An Outright LIE’)

Appearing on Fox Business Network Friday, told Neil Cavuto on “Cavuto: Coast to Coast” Bush insisted, “I think the life story of Ben Carson is inspirational for all of us, and I believe it to be true.” (RELATED: Five Serious Questions About Politico’s Hit On Ben Carson’s West Point Story)

Cavuto asked Bush, “If it is true he fabricated that, do you think he’s finished?” Bush responded, “I‘m not going speculate about this, I admire the guy a lot. We’re going to be vetted, I feel I have been thoroughly vetted, to be honest with you. And that’s part of the process of running for president. But it ought to be done in an honest way, if he says he didn’t do it, then I trust him. I believe him.”

Asked if he would be surprised if Carson was lying, Bush said, “Yeah, I would be very surprised because I just believe he’s a person of integrity and admire him.” (RELATED: Carson Blasts CNN For ‘Lies’ Relating To Investigation Into His Youth [VIDEO])

Bush emphasized, “I trust him, I believe it. I don’t trust Politico. If it’s between politico and Ben Carson. Put me on the Ben Carson column please.”
