Donald Trump lost a legal battle over the weekend against a planned wind farm bordering a golf resort he owns in Scotland.
All five Scottish Supreme Court judges ruled against Trump in a unanimous decision to allow construction of the wind farm to continue. Trump has already threatened to take his lawsuit to European courts.
The Trump Organization will “continue to fight this proposal on every possible front,” George A. Sorial, the organization’s executive vice president and counsel told the Wall Street Journal.
Trump claimed the new wind farm will spoil the view of a nearby luxury golf resort he owns. The planned wind turbines will be about two miles from the course. Trump has publicly stated he will stop development at the resort if the wind farm project goes ahead.
Trump began legal challenges to the wind farm more than two years ago and was appealing a previous legal defeat.
The company behind the wind farm claims it would produce enough electricity to power 68,000 United Kingdom households over a year.
Environmental groups have also objected to the planned wind farm because of its likeliness to kill local birds.
The U.K. has pledged to end wind energy subsidies by the mid-2020s. Residents of the U.K. paid a whopping 54 percent more for electricity than Americans in 2014, due to subsidies and energy taxes. Such taxes currently cost residents and businesses an estimated £4.3 billion (roughly $6.6 billion) every year.
Polls estimate electricity is so expensive in the United Kingdom, 38 percent of households are cutting back essential purchases — like food — to pay for high energy bills. Another 59 percent of households are worried about how they are going to pay energy bills.
Green energy subsidies regularly exceed spending caps and account for roughly seven percent of British energy bills, according to study released in July by the U.K. government.
