A group of ISIS-affiliated gunmen have conducted an assault on an Egyptian resort Friday, targeting Western tourists.

The gunmen reportedly entered from the sea onto a beach, opening fire on the resort in the Bella Vista Hotel in the Egyptian coastal town of Hurghada. According to eyewitnesses, three gunmen were carrying ISIS flags as they assaulted the hotel. It is believed that a German and Dane were injured in the attack, however an Egyptian news source claims both injured civilians were Swedish.

All three attackers have been killed by Egyptian security forces. According to Reuters, the gunmen fired on the hotel’s entrance and went no further, limiting their ability to create more casualties.

Today’s attack follows another ISIS attack last Thursday that targeted a bus carrying Israeli tourists, who suffered no injuries. The group responsible for the attack say that they engaged in it after a call from ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi to target Jews “everywhere.”
