Hillary Clinton portrays herself as a champion of gay rights, and many liberal gay rights organizations heap praise upon her. Yet her foundation takes vast sums from Islamic countries that torture, imprison, and execute homosexuals for the crime of being gay.
The Bill, Hillary, and Chelsea Clinton Foundation has raked in up to $57 million from Muslim nations known for the barbaric treatment of those involved in same-sex relationships.
Even as our nation mourns 49 innocent Americans slaughtered by Muslim terrorist Omar Mateen at a gay club in Orlando, Florida, the Clinton Foundation is ducking reporters’ questions about the homophobia-tainted blood money from Islamic foreign governments. Similarly, when Fox News reached out to “more than a half-dozen prominent gay rights organizations including the Human Rights Campaign; GLAAD; the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission; the Los Angeles LGBT Center; and the Gill Foundation,” they failed to respond.
Last fall Clinton indignantly complained Americans could be denied employment because of their sexuality. “It’s outrageous that, in 2015, you can still be fired for being gay,” she told the Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest gay rights group, which endorsed her in mid-January. “You can still lose your home for being gay. You can even be denied a wedding cake for being gay.”
Does the former Secretary of State — and the nation’s most prominent gay rights organization — not know the penalties for being gay in the Islamic world? They involve far more than being denied a wedding cake.
Being gay in places like Iran and Saudi Arabia can lead to the death penalty. A Saudi doctor was arrested for displaying the LGBT rainbow flag on his roof. Another man was put in jail for making sexual advances online toward other men. In 2015, several men were arrested in dawn raids at parties on suspicion of homosexuality.
Yet Clinton won’t say her international nonprofit will send such countries their money back, nor have pro-Hillary gay rights groups asked Clinton to put her foundation’s money where her mouth is.
Maybe she’s fine with the repressive anti-gay policies of Muslim nations.
Their anti-gay governments certainly can’t complain. According to the Clinton Foundation’s own disclosures, which give only ranges for gifts, donors include Algeria ($250,001 to $500,000); Kuwait ($5 million to $10 million); Morocco through its phosphate monopoly OCP (at least $1 million); Oman ($1 million to $5 million); Qatar, including its soccer agency ($1,250,001 to $5.5 million); and the United Arab Emirates ($1 million to $5 million).
These countries penalize homosexual acts with prison, but the Clinton Foundation has also received donations from Brunei ($1 million to $5 million) and Saudi Arabia ($10 million to $25 million), both of which execute homosexuals.
Many more donations may surface. The Clinton Foundation is notorious for releasing inaccurate information about its affairs and has been forced to refile many IRS documents.
Perhaps Clinton’s ties to Islamism prevent her from fessing up and returning those suspect donations. Longtime lieutenant Huma Abedin, now vice-chair of Clinton’s campaign, worked for the Clinton Foundation but has deep generational connections to the Muslim Brotherhood.
The foundation even had a Muslim terrorist operative on its payroll for five years. Gehad el-Haddad was a spokesman for the Clinton Climate Initiative who quit and later became a Muslim Brotherhood spokesman. In 2015, Haddad received a life sentence in Egypt for sedition.
Hillary Clinton—and the gay groups that support her—have a lot of explaining to do.
