More suspects may yet be at large in the attack on police officers late Thursday night that left four officers dead and another seven wounded, Dallas police chief David Brown said in a press conference early Friday morning. One suspect, who at the time of the press conference was engaged in a standoff with police, told authorities that “the end is coming,” adding that “there are bombs all over the place.”

Police had previously expressed their concern that the suspects had placed bombs somewhere in downtown Dallas. At least one suspicious package has been secured by a bomb squad.

Brown said, “The suspect that we are negotiating with, that has exchanged gunfire with us over the last 45 minutes, has told our negotiators that ‘the end is coming’ and that he’s going to hurt and kill more of us — meaning law enforcement — and that there are bombs all over the place in the garage and downtown.”

“We still don’t have a complete comfort level that we have all the suspects,” Brown said later. Brown also noted that one of the suspects in custody is a woman. Police reportedly apprehended multiple other suspects on a Dallas highway after a car chase. Another suspect was taken into custody after a shootout with police.

Multiple shooters killed four officers and wounded seven others at an anti-police protest in Dallas late Thursday night. The shooters reportedly used rifles and were wearing body armor during the attack.

Protesters gathered in Dallas after recent police-involved shootings of black men in Minnesota and Louisiana. KDFW reported that protesters were chanting “Fuck the police” and “Black Lives Matter” prior to the shooting. It’s unclear if the shooters were associated with the protests.
