A jewelry company told Ivanka Trump it would be donating all of the proceeds from her recent purchase to Hillary Clinton’s campaign.
After the Republican nominee’s daughter purchased a piece of jewelry from Lady Grey, the designers Jill Martinelli and Sabine Le Guyader wrote her a note informing her that her $84 and change would be donated to the American Immigration Council, the Everytown for Gun Safety organization, and the Hillary Clinton campaign.
“Thank you so much for your web order!” the note read. “We’re happy to let you know that the proceeds of your sale have been generously donated to the American Immigration Council, the Everytown for Gun Safety Organization, and the Hillary Clinton campaign. We hope you enjoy your new Lady Grey [Helix Ear Cuff].”
“While we were flattered to receive an order from Ivanka Trump, our social and political views couldn’t be further from those of the Trump campaign,” Martinelli said.
“When we received her order, we instantly felt compelled to take the money and donate it to a few organizations that were more aligned with our ideals.” (RELATED: Ivanka Trump’s Brother-In-Law Is Voting For Hillary Clinton)
But the brand’s customers weren’t impressed.
“Tacky,” one user commented on Instagram. “Bad Business.”
“Shitty way to do business,” another added. “No class at all!”
“It IS very passive aggressive and catty. Just donate the purchase money and be done with it. This post was done for no other reason than publicity at the cost of a paying customer, that’s bad business anywhere no matter what their beliefs.”
