Donald Trump just hit back at Cosmopolitan magazine after its contentious interview with Ivanka Trump about his proposed paid maternity leave.

“Cosmopolitan is a dying magazine,” Trump said Friday during an interview on Fox Business Network’s “Mornings with Maria.”  The Republican presidential nominee told host Maria Bartiromo that “nobody reads Cosmopolitan magazine anymore” and slammed the magazine for attacking his daughter because his maternity leave did not include benefits for gay men who adopt. (RELATED: Ivanka Trump Blasts Cosmo After Interview: ‘Keep The Focus Where It Belongs)

“She did it because she thought the person was a nice person,” Trump said. “She’d do it. She did him a favor-because who wants to read it in Cosmopolitan, nobody reads Cosmopolitan magazine anymore.” (RELATED: Cosmo Attacks Ivanka Because Trump’s Paid Maternity Leave Doesn’t Include Gay Men)

“So she did it to be nice,” he added. “And I heard the person-I haven’t seen it-but I heard the person was really rude to Ivanka and everybody loves Ivanka. She did it out of her heart because she feels so strongly about child care and she was like…attacked by this you know rather non-intelligent reporter, but really attacked viciously.”

“I said, ‘Don’t let it bother you,'” he continued. ” You know I said, ‘Welcome to the world of a Trump.’ But it’s very unfair. And this is a magazine that’s a dead magazine.”

On Thursday, Ivanka Trump also blasted the magazine in a series of posts on her Twitter account after the interview about her father’s policy veered off course.

“Cosmopolitan, your readers do and should care about issues impacting women & children,” Trump tweeted. “Keep the focus where it belongs—advocating change.”
