Jake Tapper went after Ivanka Trump on Twitter Friday, and was immediately called out for it.
In the wake of the U.S. military response in Syria, the First Daughter tweeted that “the times we are living in call for difficult decisions.”
The times we are living in call for difficult decisions – Proud of my father for refusing to accept these horrendous crimes against humanity https://t.co/yV0oJuC9dE

Tapper, not content to let the innocuous show of support stand, inserted himself with this passive aggressive attack on the President.
@IvankaTrump How do you feel about his proposed ban on Syrian refugees from entering the US? Do you see any disconnect there at all? Thanks

Author Cate Long clearly took issue with Tapper’s tweet.
@jaketapper @IvankaTrump hey Mr. Tapper. There is a clear dividing line between news reporter and internet troll. And you just crossed.

Long’s insertion into the conversation appeared to have embarrassed the CNN host, who attempted to show he wasn’t just criticizing POTUS for the sake of criticizing POTUS.
@cate_long @IvankaTrump No, it’s a sincere question to a senior WH adviser on Twitter. I’d love to ask her in an interview of course.

@jaketapper @IvankaTrump and it’s been stated multiple times that there is no method to vet Syrians since intracountry systems are under Assad’s control.

@cate_long @IvankaTrump Not sure why your concern is more for one of the most powerful people in the world than for the most vulnerable but have a great weekend.

@jaketapper @IvankaTrump Have a great weekend too.
