U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin met for the first time Friday with a brief exchange at the G20 summit in Hamburg, Germany.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s cabinet managed to capture their first-ever handshake. Putin seemingly had no problem hanging onto Trump’s notoriously aggressive handshake. Trump followed it up with a casual slap on the back.

The two will meet for sit-down Friday to discuss a number of foreign policy issues, including the conflict in Syria and Russian aggression in Ukraine. Trump tweeted that he looks forward to their meeting, saying the two have “much to discuss.”
