Tennessee is on the hook for just north of $8.2 million to recently fired football coach Butch Jones.
The payments will be dished out every month at a rate of $206,439.50. His contract has offset language, so Tennessee could be forced to pay a little less if he gets hired elsewhere.

That’s got to sting a lot. Paying a guy more than $8 million to not coach. Talk about brutal for the bottom line.
I wouldn’t even rush to get another job if I were Jones. You can cruise through the next few years and then some on $8 million. Sports are one of the few areas of life where you get paid big time even when there is massive failure.
Jones was a joke in Knoxville, and I’m sure he’s laughing all the way to the bank.
